COPAL is a grassroots, membership-based non-profit organization committed to creating dignified life for Latines in Minnesota through leadership in public policy and provision of direct services to our community. Recognizing the critical importance of equitable access to education, we are dedicated to fostering opportunities for Latine students. As part of COPAL’s Youth Program, we are delighted to announce the availability of scholarships ranging from $1,000 – $2,000 aimed at facilitating greater access to educational opportunities for Latine students.
This is also an opportunity to gain professional development experience in an office environment and transferable administration skills. Participants will also be eligible for career and employment services, and are potentially eligible for pre-approved expenses such as book costs, transportation cards, and interview clothes.

■ As COPAL participates in building a just society, we are aware that our work needs to be guided by principles that center on the well-being of the community. Therefore, in 2019, COPAL adopted the Jémez Principles for Democratic Organization as a guiding compass for building relationships with organizations and/or individuals who share our common dreams. These principles were collectively written in 1996 in the city of Jémez, New Mexico, by a multi-racial group of activists working on issues of globalization. Choose one of the Jémez Principles (image below) and explain why it is important when creating social change and how you live by that principle in your life.
