MINNEAPOLIS, MN – On Thursday, October 17th, COPAL MN will host its annual Dignity and Democracy Gala at Quincy Hall in Minneapolis. The gala marks a significant milestone for the organization as it celebrates six years as a Latine-led nonprofit working to improve the lives of Minnesota’s Latine communities. The evening will commemorate the organization’s growth, success and impact, and highlight the people who have made that possible.
As a statewide organization, COPAL is dedicated to creating meaningful change across Minnesota. Since it began in 2018, the organization has grown from just four people to a team of over 30 staff members. In the past year, COPAL opened a new office in Rochester and launched a campaign to build the Latino Center for Community Engagement in Minneapolis. The organization also helped secure major wins at the State Capitol, making it easier for Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN) holders to find a home, and securing stronger legal protections for renters.
The Dignity and Democracy Gala will include a program recognizing COPAL’s victories and highlighting the organization’s plans to expand its reach even further. COPAL will welcome Patricia Torres Ray as the keynote speaker, and the gala will include a food menu crafted by CRAVE Catering, live music from Los Jornaleros del Norte, dancing and community connection. COPAL invites family, friends, community partners and supporters to join them for the celebration.
